About me
a bit about me
It is my primary focus to explore the hidden energy and force behind creation, and it's complex relationship with humanity through paintings, photographs and installations. I embrace the colours, lines and textures found in many of the natural objects that I capture in daily life and transform each of these into abstract creations. Since I became a mother of two beautiful girls, my new pieces of work have been inspired by my experiences of motherhood and it's surroundings. My newest collage work is a combination of intricate patterns created with photo cut outs and pen drawings. Repetition and symbolism are used in semi-abstract forms which are built up in multiple layers. Though the intricate patterns are beautiful from afar, I wish to express the illusion of dreaming mothers through the images of the seemingly uncomfortable and unrealistic looking mother and her child captured in daily life. This subtle collage was created to express and give rise to the various interpretations and perspectives of the many facets of motherhood. It vividly paints a picture of a mother to be's anticipation, expectation and dream of becoming the 'ideal' mother; a mother's reminiscence of her beautiful youth; the countless sacrifices parenting entails; and all in all, the simple joys and experiences that motherhood brings to our daily lives.
